Bravo! Bravo!! Bravo!!!. Wao, as the day approaches, so many spectacular activities are being carried out, and so many questions has being raised wondering how the convocation proper will look like.

Another great event took place at the amphitheatre on Friday 8th April, 2016 which brought the likes of former Deputy Speaker of The Federal House of Representatives Rt. Hon Austin Opara, HRM King Dandison Jaja, Jeki V (the Amayanabo of Opobo and Chairman, Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers), into Rivers State University of Science and Technology to partake in the Convocation Cultural variety as part of activities to mark the 28th Convocation Ceremony of the School.
The event started with an opening prayer by the Registrar Mrs. Daba Constance Odimabo, University Anthem by the congregation, Opening remark by the chairman Rt. Honourable Chief Austin Opara (Former Deputy Speaker House of Representatives), and welcome address by the AG. Vice chancellor Prof. Blessing Didia. Goodwill messages were made by the special guest of honour His Majesty King Dandison Jaja, Jeki V (the Amayanabo of Opobo and Chairman, Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers).
The chairman of the occasion Rt. Honourable Chief Austin Opara (Former deputy speaker House of representatives), made a voluntary donation of Ten Million Naira  (N10,000,000.00) to the Department of Marketing to complete a project in the department, and he, being an alumnus student of the University described schooling in RSUST as a good one, as a result of that, he was the best graduating student in his session.
The special Guest of Honour His Majesty King Dandison Jaja, Jeki V (the Amayanabo of Opobo and Chairman, Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers),who was present made a remarkable statement “We serve our people, our people don’t serve us”, acknowledging that if all leaders understands the statement, the world would have being a better place to live.
The event proceed further with a great performance by  a poet  Black Jesus who read a piece titled “We are Africans”, followed by a wonderful display of culture by the Isakabari cultural group from Ogoloma, Okirika Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria. A soul touching epic play was presented Uniport Art Theatre titled Odumegege written by Miesoinuma Minima and directed by Friday Nwafor. The drama which has over forty cast crew lasted for about one hour thirty minutes after which the vote of thanks was taken by the Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor and closing remark by the chairman of the occasion.




As about 6:00pm same day, the event was wrapped up with a Cocktail Party held at the Vice Chancellor Lodge. In an interview with the Ag. Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Zeb Isaac Obipi, he told our correspondent that the New Administration has the welfare of RSUST students at heart and pin pointed achievements recorded by Administration such as Accreditation of more programmes in the school as students can now boldly be awarded degrees in more courses, renovation of classrooms for conducive learning etc. He also pointed out that the VC gave the students a listening ear by impeaching the SUG President due to misconduct and misappropriation of funds in order to strengthen the relationship between the students and the School Administration. He went further to tell us that the New Administration has a lot of good plans for the students and RSUST at large to take the school to a greater height and according to him, these will unfold gradually and in due process.
The 28th convocation ceremony has come to its climax as the convocation proper kicks off by 8am on Saturday 9th April, 2016 at the Convocation Arena. According to the DSA, the former time of 9:30am has been rescheduled to 8:00am because of the activities lined up for the day.
