Man O war exchange blows with student

It has been a usual incidence where the Man O War team exchanges blows with the students whom they are supposed to protect. Most times students get intimidated because they feel they don’t have right to challenge them based on their innocence.

Just yesterday evening we received a call from a student with an unknown number explaining how a student was being treated badly for a crime he never committed. But before GISTMEUST Reps could get to the point of the incidence normalcy had been returned.

In an interview with the Commander of the Man O War group ‘he said that one of his boys on duty at the PG Female hostel as regards to security and observation was slapped by a student. He then ordered for the student and told his boy that was slapped to retaliate the same way i.e. to slap back’. In his statement he said ‘he did it to show the student, what it is like to humiliate an officer who is trying to protect other students and their properties’. He further said that ‘he had written to the CSO and had advised that a memo be circulated informing female students to retire and remain in their hostels once it is 8pm.

Speaking on the incident- the victim BRUCE said he was at PG block with his room-mate trying to get something to eat when he saw a friend of his(a man o war officer)  arguing with a group of guys, he never knew it would turn out to be a fight. Few minutes later he heard a shout from behind and on enquiry he discovered his friend had been slapped which he intervened by pleading and trying to separate the fight.

He narrated that when the fight was successfully put out his friend returned to their base and came back to the scene with some other Man O War personnel, unable to locate the guys that slapped their colleague they asked  him to identify someone who was at the scene of the fight, he  identified Bruce being his departmental colleague and friend.

Bruce explained to our reporter that he was asked twice, the whereabout of the guys that slapped his friend (the man o war), he did this to the best of his knowledge but unfortunately they could not locate the guys.

Sequel to this chain of event he was manhandled and dragged to the man o war base because they believed he was not telling the truth about where the guys were. He was asked to sit on the floor while they sent other personnel out in search of the guy who slapped the man o war member. At this point a different man o war officer asked him to explain what transpired which he obliged and he was asked to sit up by the office. While sitting the delegates that went in search of the guy returned empty handed but no sooner than later the culprit availed himself in company of his friends and identified himself as the one that actually slapped the man o war officer. He was not manhandled, intimidated, molested at all. This was quite shameful as an innocent man was made to pay the price for a crime he never committed while the culprit was a celebrated freeman.

Unwilling to let the embarrassment, intimidation and molestation go, Bruce said ‘he had to call his parents and related the story to them’ his mother came with some navy personnel who insisted the issue be settled peacefully irrespective of  the fact that accounts of both parties  were quite contradictory.

At this point the GISTMEUST personnel covering the story were intimidated by the man o war officials and their recording devices were seized, evidence of the previous version of the story by the man o war commander and other evidences in audio record form were deleted as they insisted that they were sorry but that Bruce was seen among cultists and he was one of them. We guess this was a move to deprive the public of the truth forever.

What does this entail? Guilt!!! You be the judge.
