 The National Union of Rivers State Students ( NURSS) RSUST chapter yesterdaysuccessfully held its first congress in almost a decade. Rivers Students defied the numerous activities in the university and turned out in their large numbers for this historic gathering held at the Hostel E football field.


The congress which was presided over by the Ag.Vice President, Johnson Johnson Eugene, in place of the Ag.President, Emmanuel Augustine who was away for an official assignment proved a veritable platform for the Unions leadership to acquent Rivers students in RSUST of the numerous efforts of NURSS Executives, so far geared towards promotion of the welfare of Rivers State Students since their assumption of office few months ago.

The NURSS leadership unveiled to the congressians some programs and projects such as the upcoming NURSS WEEK 2016, as well as an updates on bursary payment and other related strategic steps being taken to better the lot NURSSITES in the university.

Some of attendees who spoke during the congress commended the NURSS RSUST Executives for their tireless efforts in restoring and rebranding the union.

They however suggested that their was the need for an increment in the publication of the Unions activities mainly its congress while assuring the Unions Executives of their unwavering support.
On the upcoming SUG Week, Comr. Johnson urged Rivers state students to consider it an obligation to participate actively in the week long event, while reprimanding them of the need to prioritize their academic even in the midst of SUG Week.

The congress was attended by the NURSS RSUST Executives, Block Heads, ethnic Presidents among others.
