It is interesting going through old pictures in order to see one’s transformation over the years. We would try not to be mean by bringing out old pictures of some known faces in order to see how much they have changed. Instead, we would be looking at the fashion trends that were in vogue then.

These trends after all contributed to the oddness of the old pictures that would be produced if we were to check. In truth, there were some things we considered as the ‘reigning things’ then. Everyone wanted to use them.

There were some clothes that were in vogue, hairstyles you would not want to miss doing and ladies rocked a particular style of dressing then. Remember the era of tying tops? Yeah, we would be taking you through that phase again. Even some songs are tagged oldies and the youths of our time would laugh out loud when they hear some of these songs.

Going down memory lane, we really cannot help laughing at our sense of fashion then, no one saw anything wrong with doing those things. However, there are some of the fashion trends that we would be glad to see dead. Actually some of them are dead already.

Find some of these dead fashion trends below:

1. My money grows like grass
Seriously this top rocked Nigeria like crazy! Every tom, d*ck and harry wore this. It got to a point it was irritating seeing the shirt everywhere. it was difficult telling the original from the fake. You can be sure that you would see at least fifty people in a day rocking theirs. The saddest part is a majority of these people would be looking dirty and unkempt. You would now be left wondering what money they are talking about in the first place.

2. Ama kip kip
What are they ‘kipping’? Mscheeeew. This is another shirt we do not want to see again. There were different colors and the big boys rocked it like mad. The shirt lost its value the moment it became a common wear. You would see it in the bend down boutiques; the annoying part was people did not care whether it was common then, everyone just wanted to have one. We are sure yours is still in the wardrobe. If you are sure of yourself wear it out and tag us.

3. Alobam shirt by Phyno
Do you remember this Alobam shirt? It was the reigning thing then. Many Nigerians rocked it like they did not have any other cloth apart from it. This happened to be some people’s best cloth then.

4. Remember this buckle for belts?
Most men used belts that have this kind of head. They did not just rock it quietly, they had a way of showing off with it. The times they wore shirts that are longer, they found ways of lifting the shirts in order to flaunt the buckle. They did this most times.

5. Studded belts
If you were in a relationship with some happening guy back then, this is most likely to be the belt he used then. This belt was so common back then that we do not miss it now that men have found other alternatives. The annoying part is this belt is starting to make its way into the market again. The devil is a liar.

6. Carrot jeans
We definitely do not miss this jeans. We are sure you still have one you use in the house.

7. The Arab scarves
We are sure you are familiar with this scarf. Nigerians can do copy copy sha; even when they wear shirts and have dressed for official engagements, they would wrap this around their necks the Arabian way. However, they managed to spoil the beauty of these scarves by making the style annoying.

8. This rubber slippers and shoes
This type of rubber shoes and slippers with fanciful ribbons on it was common some years back in Nigeria. Every lady had it and the streets were made more colorful with them. We are sure you do not miss this slippers.

9. That era of shambala
Finally, the crave for this thing is gone. Nigerian girls would always find a way of begging you for your Shambala.

10. The N100 rosary
There was a time rosaries were trending in Nigeria. Most people put them round their necks and tie them round their wrists. These rosaries have pictures of their own Jesus looking like an Arab.
