A MANIFESTO PRESENTED BY OSIGWE PROMISE CHRISTOPHER FOR THE POST OF FINANICAL SECRETARY

A MANIFESTO PRESENTED BY OSIGWE PROMISE CHRISTOPHER (OPC) A CONTESTANT FOR THE POST OF FINANICAL SECRETARY IN THE 2016 SUG ELECTION.

According to Osigwe Promise Christopher (OPC) he said; “only a man with vision can run, remain and rap-up a race taken up by him”.

“A leader must have qualities of impactation before he can impact into the lives of his followers”
I have a vision towards SUG in RSUST, I have qualities to impact into the students of RSUST.
My Vision is to make sure that the finance of the SUG is judiciously, prudently, and wisely manage and utilized with service and sacrifice as watchword.
My Qualities are Humility, integrity, transparency, sincerity, prudence, responsibility and accountability.
According to Francis Bacon; “Reading makes a full man, conference a ready man, and writing an exact man”.
As a student of this great institution called RSUST, I have enquired – asked questions, researched on why SUG is not living up to its billing and came to the conclusion that the union need transparency, financial accountability and prudence in the management of the affairs of students.
Having served as Auditor General and Secretary Genearal of the Department of Applied and Environmental Biology, I believe that I am equipped with the necessary skills, to redefine the position of Financial Secretary in the Executive Council of the Student Union Government. While I acknowledge the efforts of the past and present financial secretaries, the obvious truth is that a lot can be done to reposition the union to the expected enviable height.
The quality of a leader as espoused by Ray Kroc is reflected in the standards they set for themselves, if given the opportunity to serve as Financial Secretary I will ensure the following.
That every student is carried along with the happenings in the union through the proper keeping and maintaining of comprehensive financial records from to time to time as stated in Article 6, section 5, subsection 6(f) of the SUG constitution, 2010.. Also I will ensure that any union’s money received is paid to the union’s bank account within 24 hours from the day of collection as convened by the SUG constitution article 6, section 5, subsection 3(c), 2010.
1.    That funds disbursed to officers of the Union are judiciously used and accounted for before such officer(s) is allowed to access more funds or withdrawals in line with article 6, section 5 of Students’ Union Constitutions, 2010. This is made more imperative because of the obvious mismanagement and abuse of public trust that has characterized the union in the recent past.

2.    I, in concert with my executives will spearhead a seminal geared towards sensitizing, educating and enlightening students and serving Executive on how to curb profligacy and cultivating the culture of financial prudence with a view of laying the foundation of financial freedom and self-sustaining upon graduation. After which a practical program on entrepreneurial skills will be organized, where all the student will be invited to showcase what they can do to realize money for themselves, put them to a competition and the lucky winners (5 persons) get a prize to start up the skill. This is streamlined to enhancing the well-being and financial upliftment of the students. 


3.    I, in concert with members of the executive council will partner with banks and other business enterprises within and outside the school and facilitate the sponsorship support of students that are experiencing difficulties in payment of school fees.


4.    I will support the president and other executives to realize their legitimate, progressive and innovative programs, through ideas, suggestion and initiatives.

5.    I will work hand in hand with the President and Director of Welfare to see to the financial needs and challenges of the students when it comes to photocopying, printing and buying of foods. We will see to how the prices of these things can be brought to the affordability of students.

 With all these, I believe this is the way for the new SUG we all are longing for.

Above all, vote a man with sacrifices and service as watchword. A man who is humble and intelligent and is of a god report. Vote OPC and we will all enjoy SUG together. I LOVE YOU ALL!
