Since 2014, GISTMEUST has served and informed RSUST students. Lately, we've noticed a positive change in behavior of young voters which led us to produce this useful guide. Our main goal is to demonstrate and lead our fellow students to exercising their powerful and fundamental right to vote. It is also a concise reference on the voting deadlines and procedures for all faculties with different options available.

The issue of voting in our own institution is in a mess as we practice what we call "DELEGATE VOTING" during the past administrations. as reverse to what happen in other universities. Recently there might be a change (TRULY CHANGE) in the electoral structure which debate is still going on(CONGRESS ELECTION - E- VOTING).

May we take a look at the pros and cons of these methods of voting.

The Delegate Election:
A delegate election is when persons are chosen to represent each faculty and department. Also Aspirants suffer alot in the hands of these delegates during the said Delegate election, some are asked to give #5000 and a wine to each delegate supporting them else they they fail.

How can we allow 140 persons vote on behalf of 15,330 students?
For how long can we continue to fold our arms and allow people who do not merit these positions emerge as winners all because they have the connection?

Least we forget, may i remind you that each year delegates and aspirants are being kidnapped and beaten by their fellow aspirants which is unlawful.

Delegate election should come in if it is a means of qualification for the general election and that should be done at the faculty level.

The E-Election (E-VOTING):
This is a system of voting where aspirants and students sit at the comfort of their homes and vote online using their ecampus username and password without any intimidation nor fear from any cult group or group of persons. While the Electoral committee and the Agents will be at the control room waiting patiently while the votes come in (CHANGE good oo!).

The CONS of E-Election:
May i remind us once again that the Electronic Processing agents(EPA) have about 95% of students' data - including usernames and passwords. I bring to your notice that they are now jumping and praying because their time to make money has come.

For this effect to take place we all must change our passwords. click here to change your password

NB:
The Electoral College is a system that actually determines who the next president will be. Now, I know what you’re thinking. “I thought the individual students of this great university determine who will be president!” Before you get all worked up, let me explain this system.

You cast your vote in the popular vote. People in every department, faculty or even at the comfort of their home do the same. Once voting is over, all of the votes are tabulated in the control room. This determines who won the position. Next, the electors will cast their votes. They most usually cast their votes based on who won their faculty or department in the popular vote. Some people have gone against what their faculty/department said, but most stick with this tradition. Once the electors vote, the next president is decided.

Groups asked their leaders in Washington DC to offer guidance to the college students and future of America. Here is their response:

"Tired of your views being ignored? Voting is your chance to be heard and to make a difference," Rep. Miller wrote. "Last November, Americans came out and voted for a change and we in the new congress have accomplished a lot so far - we've raised the minimum wage, made college more affordable and protected the environment by increasing fuel economy standards for cars. If everyone came out to vote on Election Day, it would mean that each person in this country is being heard, that everyone's opinion counts, regardless of age, whether he is 18 or 89. That's how change happens - express your views at the ballot box."
I urge us all to make the right decision.

VOTE wisely.

  1. Seems more like forcing us to accept instead of allowing us make choices....
