The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested the Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Professor Olusola Oyewole.<br />
<br />
A source at the commission told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja that Oyewole was arrested for alleged financial fraud.<br />
<br />
According to the source, the Vice Chancellor will be arraigned in court on Friday.<br />
<br />
When contacted, the spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, declined comment on the issue.<br />
<br />
“I don’t have that information yet,’’ he said.<br />

NAN reports that Oyewole was invited by the commission about two months ago following allegations of financial fraud in a petition by the university’s branch of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU)<br />

NYSC: Things You Must Take Along To NYSC Camp To Avoid Stress

You are on this page probably because you have been Mobilized by NYSC, a prospective corper or better still a parent who is helping out his/her child source for necessary information as regards NYSC camp requirements. I'm going keep it precise but detailed so you don't have to run around the internet searching for more information.<br /><br />Now there's a huge excitement in your heart that you are going to serve your father land, that's obviously amazing. However, it will be really sad and shattering if you got to camp and you are being sent back because you don't have some required items for registration.<br /><br />Now follow me closely as i list all you will need for registration and also to make your stay fun..<br /><br />OFFICIAL NYSC CAMP REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:<br /><br />1. Call Up Letter:<br />This is a vital part of camp registration and the only evidence that you are a prospective corps member (colloq. Corper, or Otondo) and you are not impersonating anyone. This will be taken from and not returned to you. So if at all you even forget you luggage (lol) never forget this.<br /><br />Tip: DO NOT LAMINATE IT! And keep it like its your life. I know someone who was sent back because she forgot hers. Also someone who had to beg and beg before his letter was collected because he laminated his own copy. So please avoid all these stress and make enough copies of this letter.<br /><br />2. Registration Documents:<br />Foreign graduates should take along important registration documents used in registering at Abuja.<br /><br />3. Final Year Student Identity CARD<br />Tip: If you've been issued your Certificate (not statement of result), there won't be need for this.<br /><br />4. Notification/Statement of Result from School<br /><br />5. Passport Photos:<br />This is very important. Take as many as you can, about 20 in red backgrounds. You would need them at every registration point mostly. Then those of you who would likely redeploy or join one group or the other in camp, you would need more than others.<br /><br />6. Photocopies Of Your Documents: Now make about 5-10 copies of every document required. There would be photocopiers in camp at mammy market but trust me, it is double the price and it saves time.<br /><br />Tip: The forms that will be handed to you are very easy to fill. Attach your passport where necessary and fill them correctly. After your registration, you will be issued with your State Code Number. This will be like your PIN throughout your Service Year.<br /><br />7. Certificates/Licences: For Doctors, Pharmacists, Nurses & Lab Scientists, take along your proof of certification.<br /><br />8. Stationery: Pen, Paper, Gum, Stapler, Tippex: Yeah this saves time and lots of unnecessary begging.<br /><br />Tip: Some camps do seize staplers at the gate during check-in. So do not forget to include pins in your stapler if you are taking that along.<br /><br />Tip: After getting your NYSC State Code Number, you can proceed to claim your NYSC Kit and Mattress after which you can proceed to get a Room. After you have gotten your kit and secured a place in the hostels, you can settle down and you are good to go to start the Military parades.<br /><br />Now, Your NYSC kit should contain 1 NYSC Crested Vest, A pair of Khaki Trousers, Cap and Jacket, 2 White T-shirts, 2 Pairs of Knickers, 2 pairs of green-stripped Stockings, A Pair of Orange Jungle Boots and One Pair of White Converse. A “Belt” is also included.<br /><br />YOUR DAILY NEEDS:<br /><br />9. Round-necked white T-shirts: This is an essential outfit in camp in fact in most camps this is the only allowed cloth to be worn throughout your 3 weeks. Even to church, you might not be allowed to wear colored cloths. You would be given 2 pairs of white t-shirts at camp to just fulfill all righteousness which surely would never be your size especially our very slim and small otondo in size . So you can bring extra pairs (6). Why? Because you probably wont have time to wash during the week after being stressed out from the parades and Man-O-War drills.<br /><br />Tip: Do not carry more than 2 pairs of colored clothes because you wont need it.<br /><br />10. White Shorts: I beg you please do bring yours. you would also be given 2 pairs of shorts which are really poor in material. They tear easily and it can be annoying. So my dear Otondos bring like 4 pairs of shorts. Trust me also you wont like to wash everyday, so bring enough to last you like 3 days so that you wont be stranded.<br /><br />11. Plain White Sneakers/Tennis Shoes: This is a very important outfit. you would also be given an ugly pair of low quality white tennis shoes customized for NYSC. It’s either you are not given your size although you can find someone with your size and swap. But after the first wash it starts tearing. So just buy yours (white). They also sell this in camp, so in case you are not able to get you could buy in camp just carry extra cash for that because the price would be higher – as with everything in Mammy – because they know you have no choice than to buy. Now, If you happen to camp during the rainy season (Batch ‘B’ & ‘C’), get white rubber sneakers/boots especially if you’re posted to the Southern part of the country . The parade fields/mammy market might be messed up after the rains. You will get this in camp.<br /><br />12. White Socks: Just get extra pairs.<br /><br />13. Mosquito Treated Net: You would do not want to fall sick in camp from malaria. Just bring yours. Also bring ropes you would use to hang it. I also used mine as a room to protect my box and properties from thieves and also from some insects and ants.<br /><br />14. Basic Drugs: Like Panadol or paracetamol, medicine for your allergies, menstrual pain relief drug, nausea relief drugs, antibiotics e.t.c. The camp clinic is sometimes inadequately stocked with drugs so help yourself.<br /><br />15. Padlocks: (BRING or BUY from Mammy) Please lock your boxes and bags to avoid regrets and tears. I know someone who lost more than 5 items including his two phones – like he’s the only one in camp.<br /><br />16. Waist Pouch: /Fanny pack/Bum bag (or for the more fashion-conscious, a cross-body purse).The bum bags are more popular because they won’t bang against you when you’re active and your hands are free to do whatever. You need it to carry your money, phone, small valuables, pens, etc around with you at all times. You should sleep with it too.<br /><br />17. Beverage: The camp will supply u with “Tea-water” so you can make tea when u need to!<br /><br />18. Dettol Or Any Disinfectant: This is very, very essential. Firstly the bathrooms can be very annoying and dirty and more importantly, you would not like to have infection from camp. Bad idea. Depending on your camp, the water can be dirty. Most people always have reaction to it.<br /><br />19. Detergent: (BUY from Mammy) Again, this reduces the amount of load you’re bringing into camp. However, if you’re lucky the mammy market will have vendors offering laundry services! It costs about N50 per item, N100 for your khaki trousers or shirt, extra N50 if you want your items pressed.<br /><br />Tip: The Bucket: Buy this in Mammy. Don’t stress yourself taking one to Camp, which you’re probably going to leave behind after 3 weeks.<br /><br />Toiletries: Toilet Paper, Sanitary Pad, soap dish etc. BUY in Mammy.<br /><br />20. Towels<br /><br />21. A Pair Of Slippers: (BRING or BUY)<br /><br />22. Bed sheets, Pillow Cases and A Pillow: You could also get pillow from mammy market to reduce load.<br /><br />Tip: Mattresses will be provided by NYSC. It is best to “double up” with the mattresses, as they are about 1 to 2 inches thick. Lol.<br /><br />23. Handkerchiefs: There will be BUCKETS of sweating. Do yourself a favor.<br /><br />24. Flashlight Or Rechargeable Lamps: (BRING or BUY) Most camps, or in fact, all camps do not give light except at a specific time of the day. It’s very essential especially at night when you need to use the bathroom, early in the morning when preparing for morning drills and meditations and at night in case you need to do anything. At the mammy market, there is always light till they close, usually 10pm except on days like the Camp Fire Night. You can charge them there at a little fee.<br /><br />Tip: You will be fed three times a day in camp but I must not lie to you, the food there is nothing to write home about. They can be nice on few occasions like Sundays, but most days, they are poor. If you are someone who loves to eat good food, make provisions for your own food. You should get some fast foods along, some breakfast cereals and beverages. You should also hold extra cash to eat at the Mammy market. You will get good meals there.<br /><br />25. Plate And Cup: (BRING or BUY) For eating. Important for those who intend on eating Camp food.<br /><br />26. Some Form Of Entertainment: Novels – for those who get bored easily, please carry some. And for guys PSP or chess. also iPod your and MP3 players for audiophiles.<br /><br />27. Your Ray-Ban Sunglasses For The Sun. And if you can’t afford that, get a Ray-Bon. lol<br /><br />28. Get Extra Phone Batter(ies) And Extra Network SIMs. Some network are not available at some camps in remote locations far from towns. Once you get your call-up letter, you can find out which network has the best reception at your destination camp. If you need data access, find out if that available also. Instagramers and keekers, if you get EDGE thank your stars.<br /><br />29. Cash: Extremely important. You would need about N15,000. Then between N20,000 – N30,000 to be ‘just’ comfortable. For those that can manage, say, N10,000 – N15,000. There are lots of things that take up money. Things like food (for those who don’t intend eating camp food), drinks, recharge cards, charging of phones, laundry, pleasures e.t.c<br /><br />Tip: You wont be allowed to leave camp. So do not be stranded, trust me it’s not a good idea. Just budget 1000 per day. You could take your ATM card along, incase. (This might sound counter-intuitive since there might not be any ATM in camp and you are not allowed to leave camp. But figure it out…)<br /><br />You can keep you extra cash with the Accounts Department (as the case was in my camp) while some shops offer POS services, you still have access to extra cash whenever you need it.<br /><br />If you have a camera you can take it along because you will want to snap a lot of scenes. If you have a Smartphone with great camera, that’s good for you because you can easily take and share photos on social networks.<br /><br />Tip: If you don’t have any of those, you will have to pay some guys on camp who do that as business to follow you around and snap you wherever you go. They might charge up to N2,000 for the duration of the camping. They should give you all your photos and videos in DVDs at the end of Camping. The Awoofians<br /><br />Many will agree with me that an average Nigerian wants to reap where he/she did not sow. The awoofians are usually attending parties they are not invited and will be gulping beer and feeding like there's famine in Nigeria. Some will even go as far as selling their family houses just to invest into it and by the time things goes as unplanned, they will start their lives from square one.<br /><br />2. Those who resigned their jobs<br /><br />It's funny people resign their jobs just because they see this scheme as a blessing in disguise and a less strenuous way of becoming rich. These people will definitely end up in deep regret when MMM messes them up and can't later find jobs.<br />

Those who invest their lives savings<br /><br />When taking risk, it very wisdom on the part of a person to invest what he can afford to lose but many people seem to have been exceeding their boundary these days. If they end up losing their life savings, they will have HBP and will relegate to 6 feet with immediate effect.<br /><br />4. Those who marry without Jobs<br /><br />Recently, men who are financially handicapped are beginning to get married with the notion that MMM will be their source of livelihood without the fear of unforeseen circumstances. As funny as it sounds, some will save up money for wedding and will invest it into MMM so that they can afford to buy adult cows, pay bride price, rent halls and canopies for their wedding.<br /><br />5. Those who longer want to work<br /><br />I overhead a man yesterday talking to his neighbour that, with MMM, he no longer needs a job and I began to shake my head at his ignorance. These kind of people will end up biting their finger when things turn soar.<br /><br />6. Those who were Sacked from Work<br /><br />Some people who were sacked from work will plunder their payment in lieu of notice into MMM so that their landlords will not send them packing. This is very risky thing to do considering the fact that you will both lose in two ways when the unexpected happens.<br /><br />7. Those who sell their Properties<br /><br />I have a neighbour who who recently sold his father's inheritance and plough the money into this scheme so that, at the end of the month, he would be able to buy a plot of land at Mowe and also buy himself a car. I sometimes feel sorry for him because I still don't know where he will start his life from if he loses<br /><br />8. Bankers<br /><br />I pity some bankers who usually invest as much as N10m out of customers' savings just to get a profit of N3m in return. We recently heard the story of a bank manager who committed suicide due to debt.<br /><br />9. Those who want to celebrate Christmas elaborately<br /><br />Now that Christmas is around the corner, many will invest the little they have before November 25th, so that they can cash out before December 25th and celebrate with their loved ones. When MMM crashes before that time, they will become wailers and start blaming Buhari for their misfortunes.<br /><br />10. Those whose Girlfriends dumped them for being Poor<br /><br />Just because a lady dumped you for being poor, you ventured into MMM just to buy a car and make her jealous. How frequent is it when you notice that your anger and emotions are getting out of control that's driving you to commit all sorts of inappropriate, reckless, crazy behaviors?<br /><br />To the majority of us, it's undeniable that life is tough, challenging and stressful these days. However, it is still important to learn how to control your temper.<br /><br />One critical thing to remember is that you are always 100% in control of your emotions.<br /><br />While you should never find yourself in a situation that you can't control, you always have choices as to how to react to any kind of situations.<br /><br />By allowing yourself to even think that your temper is controlled by other people or circumstances, you are just making an excuse for yourself!<br /><br />To a certain extent, anger is actually a powerful emotional response.<br /><br />It reminds you what you don't like about your life, other people and what matters to you. It allows you to freely express your frustrated feelings, but it should never overpower your self-control.<br /><br />If you find that you are turning into a violent beast when anger hits you, you have an imminent dangerous problem to fix. If you really find it difficult to handle, you might as well consult some anger management experts for advice.<br /><br />Remember this powerful paradigm shift: It is not how you are feeling that is wrong. It is what you do with your feelings that become the issue.<br /><br />If you allow yourself to throw a tantrum and fling your arms around, ranting wildly like a lion king, this is obviously not a good sign. You are liable to hurt other people's feelings as well as possibly causing them physical harm.<br /><br />When you let your temper get the better out of you, you may face serious consequences like:<br /><br />1. Detrimental to your unstable mental health<br /><br />2. Severely damaging your physical health, some may even trigger heart attacks or latent diseases<br /><br />3. Ruining your professional career because you're confronting your boss, colleagues or even clients in a mindless way<br /><br />4.Destroying relationships with friends, family, lovers and co-workers<br /><br />5. Failing to create the kind of impact you want in the world because no one wants to help you with your vision and mission<br /><br />Luckily, there are solutions to this problem.<br /><br />Your first step is to seek out help and learn to manage your temper in a more effective way. This can include group discussion on possible solutions with family and friends or it can consist of you learning how to manage your anger by yourself either in books or online.<br /><br />Learning to control your temper will take time, energy, effort and patience. One of the first things you should do is to try to determine what the root cause of your anger is.<br /><br />Did you grow up in an angry household where you witnessed a lot of fights and dramas?<br />Have you experienced a traumatic event in the past about people?<br /><br />Sometimes the root cause of anger can be hidden deep inside. It is only with a lot of self-reflection, soul-searching and meditating that the answers will be revealed.<br /><br />Find a quiet place where you won't be disturbed and start making a list of all the things that make you angry. Then put them in order of importance - which one lights your fuse first. Once you know what your root cause is, you will be able to devise a better strategy to deal with it and slowly change your behavior.<br /><br />As for me, the single root cause that lights my fuse the most is "people getting angry and reacting with anger for no justifiable cause." i have identified mine and i am already working tirelessly towards accommodating it. lets hear yours

Earlier today, the Law Students Association of Nigeria (Rivers State University of Science and Technology) visited their colleague has been diagnosed with kidney failure.<br />

Amah Happiness who is a 200level student (Faculty of Law) has been diagnosed  with kidney failure at Save A Life Foundation few weeks   after she returned from her 10days holiday. <br />

...After she returned from the ten days holiday which she spent with her aunty. That day she came back we had dinner and she told me she wanted to discus something with me but i told her to wait until we finish our dinner. Later, she came to my room for the discussion, she opened her clothes and what i saw on her belly was terrible. The next day i took her to the hospital (BMH) and they did a scan. What the doctors told me broke my heart...Kidney failure..<br />

President of LAWSAN (Law Students Association of Nigeria) in the person of Comr. Victor Tamuno while speaking assured the family that the Faculty and the RSUST student community will do their best to ensure Amah is gets well. He further stated that the situation had been reported to the assistant staff adviser of the association(LAWSAN) and they are currently working on it. Also, donations from students have already began- he stated.<br />

I had mix feelings in my brief visit to Save A Life Foundation were i went to consolidate with a fellow student (Happiness Amaa. Faculty of Law, level 200) who has been diagnosed with kidney failure and needs urgent Kidney transplant to save her life. The doctor claims she has 3 months left to live and the cost of the kidney transplant is about N10million. </div>

It is three days since the National Union of Rivers State Students (NURSS), Rivers State University of Science and Technology Chapter released a communique asking the Student Union Government to reverse some decisions it took few weeks back.<br />

According to the communique, the Union gave the Student Union Government 48hours (Monday14th to Wednesday 16th November, 2016) to unblocked the pages of all Rivers state students for the compulsory diary fee of one thousand Five hundred Naira which the SUG imposed on the students before they could access their portals. Also that the Student Union Government should reverse the cost of transportation from N40 back to N30.<br />

OUR STAND:<br />
1. The National Union of Rivers State Students condemns the act of imposing a COMPULSORY diary on the stuents<br />
2. We condemn the act of blocking the pages of all students for a COMPULSORY diary fee.<br />
3. Lastely, we condemn the increment of transportation on campus.<br />
<br />
OUR DEMANDS:<br />
1. The National Union of Rivers State Students demands that the pages of students be unblocked and let them have access to their pages<br />
2. We demand that the COMPULSORYdiary fee shouldn’t be imposed on the students and that the purchase of the diary should be based on discretion.<br />
3. Lastly, we demand that the cost of transportation be returned back to its status-quo, it should move from N40 back to N30.<br />

The National Union of Rivers State Students (NURSS) is giving an ULTIMATUM of 48 hours, starting from today Monday14thNovember, 2016. to Wednesday 16th November, 2016. For implementation of these demands to avoid a Legal action against the Student Union Government (SUG).</blockquote>

According to the president of the union, in the person of Comr. Caleb Emmanuel while briefing our reporter at the congress held yesterday said the time given to the Student Union Government had expired and Nothing had been done. Rivers State Students are not happy, we are suffering in our own institution for the laws those we voted into power made - He further stated.<br />
<br />
It could be recalled that the diary initiated by the SUG had deprived most student from paying fees and hostel accommodation.<br />
<br />
According to some reports we gathered some students cried and reported to management but nothing was done as regards the said issue.<br />
<br />
In as much as the Student Union Government claims that the diary is of importance but what is it value considering the economic condition of the country.<br />
<br />
We should be talking about reducing the cost of living on campus as these sellers on campus are exploiting students when they have nothing to lose if they sell at a reduced price.<br />

What action do you think NURSS will take as regards this isssue? <br />

The peculiarity of RSUST in this strike issue is that this is the first ASUU strike RSUST would be participating in, in over 5yrs ( 5 academic sessions). I believe this was one of the many  reasons our school rose to the 12-position in the Nigerian universities ranking and best state University in the Niger Delta (The question is "were we dey now"?: story for another day).<br />

Although the claims and grievances of ASUU are understandable, which majorly is the non-implementation of MOU's as far back as 2009 and 2013 not fair if you ask me,  but for us as RSUST students i guess the pride and shoulder high standards we normally taunt our friends  in other universities with has finally become a thing of the past because this strike has broken the jinx, but i can say we enjoyed it while it lasted.<br />

According to reports from LIB the Senate President, Sen. Bukola Saraki and his four man committee  had a closed door meeting with ASUU we want to plead that they come to common grounds and call this strike off so we can return to our lectures.<br />

Girls of these days will never stop amazing us as their addiction for selfie is getting out of hand and the pattern of selfie has changed overnight.<br />

I could remember those days when the only snapping phone we had was LG and Samsung and later Nokia. But with the introduction of Blackberry, the world of selfie changed .<br />

Selfie for girls is like bible to pastors. Some are so addicted that even while eating they want to take a selfie, bathing selfie, reading selfie and also while writing exams they want to take a selfie of their exam scripts so someone outside can take a selfie of the answers. (Na joke i dey ooo!)<br />

Recently, these girls have turned selfie into what i cannot decode as the have added donkey.<br />

Question: Are they trying to tell us that they are no longer comfortable with the way God had made them?<br />
