President Daminabo Never Intervened In the Hostel Issues, I did - Welfare Secretary

Sequel to the publication that was made by the president of the Student Union Government at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology in the person of Comr. Daminabo Alali Daniel - 'SUG PRESIDENT INTERVENES: HOSTELS TO OPEN TUESDAY THIS WEEK'

However, the Welfare secretary of the union in the person of Comr. Ndi Favour while speaking with one of our reporters stated that they president is taking glory of what he did not do. He further stated that it was his own effort that propelled the quick opening of the hostels. He said this yesterday in a telephone interview as regards the president's decision to ban bottled beverages and sachet water.

In the above publication i quote;
 ' Leader of the Students Community in Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt, Comr. Daminabo Alali Daniel (GCAF) has assured the students of RSUST, that, the various hostels will soon be open for use this week.

The SUG president stated this shortly after visiting the Halls of residence currently undergoing renovations, being carried out by the University Management.

He said, he was deeply concerned about the delay in the reopening of the hostels, as this placed a burden on students coming from far distance.

Comr. Daminabo however said, the delay was largely as a result of the late take-off of the renovation of the Hostels by the School Management, which he noted was not unconnected to the current economic hardship in the country which has also, in no doubt affected the University financial buoyancy.

The Students Leader however said the SUG, and the Management through the Directorate of Students Affairs (DSA) was working tirelessly to ensure that, the hostels are available for students use in no distant time in order to reduce their academic stress.

The President, further expressed his satisfaction with the quality of job been done in the hostels, but cautioned the contractors against using inferior materials. This according to him was important since, the students community only deserved the best having paid for the said facility.

In his own words "Our students deserve the best since they are paying for the hostels, the best materials ought to be used for the renovation and we will not accept anything short of this nor compromise, besides, if the best materials are used, they will equally last, for a long time, without need for repairs ". This is because, this current SUG is here to serve the best interest of the students community, he enthused".

The Commander of Aluta Forces said, he however believes strongly on the ability of the Vice Chancellor to always give the best to the students community since we have never known him to compromise the welfare of the students.

He concluded by saying that, the process of booking for the hostels is expected to kick-start on or before Tuesday, this week.
