GUILDLINES FOR THE SCREENING OF CANDIDATES FOR THE 2016 SUG ELECTIONS - UPDATED
This is to inform all the candidates who applied and submitted their forms for positions in the Students' Union government (SUG) for the 2016/2017 session to come forward for screening on 9th June, 2016 at the office of Deans of Students' Affairs (DSA) at the scheduled times shown below:
1. Presidential candidates -- 10.00am.
2. Vice Presidential candidates, secretary General, Assist. Sec. general, Auditor General, Director of socials. -- 11.00am.
3. Director of Transport, Financial secretary, Public relations officer -- 12 pm.
4. Welfare Secretary, Sports Secretary, Judiciary -- 1.00pm.
5. Students' Representative Council (SRC) -- 2.00pm.
6. Students' Judicial Council (SJC) -- 3.00pm.
All candidates should come along with the following:
a. Current University ID Card.
b. Fully downloaded result up to first semester 2015/2016.
c. Birth certificate, (not sworn declaration of age).
d. Two recent passport photographs (coloured) with white background.
e. School fees payment receipts.
A. CANDIDATES FOR STUDENTS’ EXECUTIVE COUNCIL (SEC)
1. Registered regular/full time degree students (fees paid); not on suspension.
2. Two or three hundred level students in a 4 or 5 year programme respectively.
3. Not running any concurrent programme in any university.
4. On clear standing with a CGPA not less than 3.50 (1st September, 2015/2016).
5. Nominated by two registered regular/full time students (fees paid with receipts).
6. Candidates and nominators are not members of any secret cult/gangster group.
7. Have a properly signed consent form by a parent or guardian.
8. Submission of properly completed forms within the given time.
9. Not holding any students’ union, club, association, organization or group.
10. Presidential candidates must be, at least, 21 years old at the time of nomination.
B. CANDIDATES FOR STUDENTS’ REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL
1. Registered regular/full time degree students (fees paid); not on suspension.
2. Two or three hundred level students in a 4 or 5 year programme respectively.
3. Not running any concurrent programme in any university.
4. On clear standing with a CGPA not less than 3.50 (1st September, 2015/2016).
5. Nominated by two registered regular/full time students (fees paid with receipts).
6. Candidates and nominators are not members of any secret cult/gangster group.
7. Have a properly signed consent form by a parent or guardian.
8. Submission of properly completed forms within the given time.
9. Not holding any students’ union, club, association, organization or group.
10. Two students per faculty but must be from different departments (CGPA applies).
C. CANDIDATES FOR STUDENTS’ REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL
1. Registered regular/full time degree students (fees paid); not on suspension.
2. Two or three hundred level students in a 4 or 5 year programme respectively.
3. Not running any concurrent programme in any university.
4. On clear standing with a CGPA not less than 3.50 (1st September, 2015/2016).
5. Nominated by two registered regular/full time students (fees paid with receipts).
6. Candidates and nominators are not members of any secret cult/gangster group.
7. Have a properly signed consent form by a parent or guardian.
8. Submission of properly completed forms within the given time.
9. Not holding any students’ union, club, association, organization or group.
10. One student per faculty, preferable from a non-SRC Department (CGPA applies).
