Flying Eagles star Kelechi Nwakali will travel to the Emirates stadium in London later this month to complete his deal with Arsenal, president of Diamond Football Academy Umuahia, Martin Apugo, has confirmed.
Nwakali’s sporting rights are both owned by ASJ Academy and Diamond Academy but that has not stopped the 2015 U-17 World Cup winning captain from signing a deal with the Gunners. Apugo suggested that the player returned from London for an U-20’s match which delayed his unveiling by the club.
“Kelechi Nwakali was with Arsenal but came back from London to join the national team. He will travel this month to Arsenal, he is still in the Flying Eagles camp,” said Martin Apugo to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“He has agreed a five – year contract, he is a player of Arsenal.”
Nwakali, 18, scored a free kick in the Nigeria U-20’s 2-1 win over Burundi on Saturday in an African Cup of Nations qualifier. The 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup best player was linked with possible moves to Chelsea, West Ham and Manchester City before he agreed terms with Arsenal.
