The Vice Chancellor, Ekiti State University, Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele, has disclosed that the university has unmasked ‘certificate racketeers’ in the institution and have been shown the way out of the university.
The Vice Chancellor said this becomes necessary in order to maintain the University standard and dignity, noting that all the students would have to obtain their certificates after rigorous academic exercises, contrary to what used to obtain in the past where marks were being awarded at will by some unscrupulous elements.
He said the University discovered that ad-hoc lecturers engaged by the institution were responsible for the unwholesome practices and this accounted for their sack.
Bandele added that the internally generated revenue and academic summits held recently in the institution have begun to yield useful results, saying implementation of some of the resolutions arrived at had tremendously shored up the revenues of the university.
Bandele made the statement during a chat with newsmen in Ado Ekiti yesterday.
