The only dichotomy between university and polytechnic in Nigeria is the government.
Why is it that polytechnic is an option for people that couldn't make university?
Why is it that HND holder can't be a lecturer but an instructor?
(Your HND holder lecturer can't be presented as a lecturer during accreditation)
Why is it that polytechnics can't have at least 80% Ph.D holders as lecturers?
Why is it that many polytechnics in Nigeria don't have good structure?
Why is it that government always take ASUU serious than ASUP?
The above questions and many others need answers from the government and they should be fixed in order to stop the dichotomy.
However, I suggest that government should cancel polytechnic education in Nigeria if polytechnic graduates cannot be accorded the same respect with university graduates.
